A carabiner is a type of earring clasp whose mechanism resembles a miniature climbing carabiner. It consists of a fixed part and a movable gate secured by a spring. To open, the gate is simply pushed inwards with a finger, creating space to thread the earring through the earlobe. Upon release, the gate automatically returns to its original position and securely closes the clasp. This reliable system is often used for smaller hoops or for pendants designed to be hung on earrings.
