Control sticks are the control levers on a drone's remote controller, resembling joysticks on a game controller. By moving them, the pilot controls the direction and speed of flight. Each stick can move in two axes, thus allowing for the control of four basic flight movements. These movements are throttle (change in altitude), yaw (rotation of the drone left and right around the vertical axis), roll (tilt and sideways movement), and pitch (tilt and forward and backward movement). The arrangement of these functions on the individual sticks is called the flight 'mode'.
