A hammerless drill is a tool that creates holes using only the rotary motion of the drill bit. It lacks the function of the so-called "tapping", which is a mechanical impact that, in addition to rotating the drill, moves the drill bit in quick, short strokes back and forth in the direction of the drilling axis. It is the absence of this striking function that determines its main use. It is designed for precision drilling in materials where impact could cause damage, such as wood, metal, plastic or plasterboard.
