DVS Functionality

The DVS function, or "Digital Vinyl System," is a technology that allows DJs to control digital music files from a computer using classic turntables or CD players. The basis of the system is a special vinyl record or CD that does not contain regular music, but a so-called timecode. This code is essentially a control signal. When a DJ moves this record on a turntable – speeds it up, slows it down, scratches, or stops it – the needle picks up this signal. The signal is then fed into a DJ controller or mixer with DVS support, which converts it into digital form and sends it to the DJ software on the computer. The software interprets this signal and performs the same action in real time with the digital track loaded in it. This gives the DJ physical and precise control over digital music that is very similar to working with traditional vinyl records, but with the advantages of a digital library.
