The IP57 protection rating is a standardized specification that describes the resistance of electronic devices, such as headphones or speakers, against the ingress of foreign objects and liquids. The code consists of two digits, where the first digit “5” means that the device is protected against dust. While dust may enter in a limited amount, it will not be enough to disrupt its functionality. The second digit “7” indicates water resistance, specifically protection against temporary immersion. The device can thus withstand immersion in one meter of water for up to 30 minutes without damage.
