Low-cut filter

A low-cut filter, also referred to as a "high-pass filter" or HPF (High-Pass Filter), is a feature that removes unwanted low frequencies from recorded audio. These low frequencies can be thought of as deep rumbling, humming, or bustling. In practice, these include, for example, noise from microphone handling, vibrations transmitted by the microphone stand from the floor, rumbling footsteps, low-frequency air conditioning or traffic noise. The filter also effectively suppresses air shocks caused by wind or explosive consonants in speech such as "p" and "b". The name "top pass" accurately describes its function: it lets sound frequencies above a certain threshold through and cuts those below. This limit is usually given in hertz (Hz), for example 80 Hz or 120 Hz. Thus, activating the filter increases the intelligibility of the spoken word and the overall clarity of the recording by suppressing distracting bass components without significantly affecting the main sound, such as the human voice.
