Open-ear speakers

Open-ear speakers, also known by the English term "open-ear," are audio drivers built directly into the temples of smart glasses. Unlike conventional headphones, nothing is inserted into the ears or covers them. Sound is directed from small grilles in the temples straight toward the pinnae, so you hear it clearly while your ears remain completely free. The main purpose of this technology is to allow you to listen to music, podcasts, or take calls while simultaneously remaining fully aware of surrounding sounds, such as traffic, other people's conversations, or other warnings. However, listening this way is not entirely private. Sound also spreads to the surroundings, so people in your immediate vicinity—for example, in a quiet environment like an elevator or a waiting room—may hear what you are listening to, especially at higher volumes. Sound quality typically does not reach the level of traditional headphones that seal the ear canal, which is particularly evident in low tones or bass. Therefore, it is a solution that prioritizes situational awareness and safety over perfect sound isolation and maximum privacy.
