The scroll shape of the light indicates the type of flexible LED panel. It is a flexible board or pad fitted with LEDs that can be bent, flexed and often rolled up completely, like a mattress. This design serves two main purposes. The first is ease of portability and storage, as a rolled light takes up significantly less space than a fixed panel of the same area. The second purpose is to creatively shape the light source. The user can bend the panel into an arc to create a wide, enveloping light that softly illuminates, for example, a face in a portrait and minimizes harsh shadows. The panel can also be rolled into a narrow cylinder to create an elongated light source, which is useful for specific glare in the eyes or for lighting the edges of products. The rolling shape therefore allows the physical form of the light to be adapted to the specific scene and lighting intent, which is not possible with fixed lights.
