Table microphone

A tabletop microphone is a sound recording device designed to stand alone on a flat surface such as a desk. Its main component is an integrated stand or stable base that ensures the microphone stays in place without having to be held in the hand. This type of microphone is often used for activities where high quality and clear voice transmission is needed, such as video game streaming, podcast recording, video production, online communication or work video calls. It is most commonly connected to a computer via a USB connector, allowing for easy plug and play use, where you just plug in the microphone and start using it without complicated setup. There are also models with a professional XLR connector that require an external sound card or mixing console to function. Many desktop microphones have a so-called cardioid directional characteristic. This means that they primarily pick up sound coming from the front, i.e. from the speaker, and in turn suppress unwanted ambient noise such as room echoes or keyboard clacking. Some models are equipped with practical features such as an instant mute button, input sensitivity control or headphone output. The latter is used for so-called monitoring, which is listening to your own voice in real time without delay.
