Bowens mounts, often referred to as "bayonet Bowens", are a standardized system for attaching accessories to studio lights, whether flash or permanent. It is a mechanical connector directly on the light that allows for quick and safe deployment and replacement of so-called light modifiers. These modifiers include softboxes to soften the light, reflectors to direct the light, beauty dishe for portrait photography or chimneys to create a narrow light cone. The mechanism itself works on the principle of inserting the modifier and rotating it, which locks it firmly in place using three stops. Although this system was originally developed by Bowens, it has become one of the most widely used standards in the industry because of its practicality. As a result, photographers can combine lights and accessories from different manufacturers as long as both sides use this particular mount.
