Single-band car speakers are a basic type of sound system where the entire audible sound range is reproduced by a single transducer, i.e. a single diaphragm. The term "single-way" means that the speaker does not have separate components for different audio frequencies such as bass, midrange and treble. Thus, all the work is done by a single voice coil and diaphragm. Because of this, the sound may not be as detailed, especially in the high and low frequencies. These speakers are also sometimes called wideband speakers because they try to cover as wide a band of frequencies as possible. They are often used as basic factory speakers in vehicles or as simple and affordable replacements for damaged original pieces, where the main goal is to restore the basic functionality of the audio system.
