Alternating switch

The alternating switch, also known as a stair switch, is used to control one luminaire from two different locations. It is typically used in stairwells, hallways or bedrooms where you want to turn lights on and off, for example at the door and bedside. Its wiring includes three terminals - one for the supply phase and two for the output phase. For proper operation, AC switches are always wired in pairs.
