Automatic tilt correction

Auto Tilt Correction is a function that is used to straighten the projected image when the projector is not placed in an ideal position perpendicular to the projection surface. When the projector is pointed at the wall or screen at an angle, such as from a table upwards, the resulting image is trapezoidal instead of rectangular. This is called trapezoidal distortion, also known as the 'keystone effect'. Equipped with automatic correction using internal sensors, the projector itself detects its tilt and digitally adjusts the image to the correct rectangular proportions. The user thus does not have to make any complicated settings in the menu. Most often, this function takes care of vertical correction, i.e. levelling the image when tilted up or down. Some models can also handle horizontal correction in case the projector is positioned more to the side of the centre of the screen. As this is a digital adjustment, there is a slight loss of detail as the full resolution of the chip is not used.
