Certification EN 17092-2 (AA)

EN 17092 certification is a European standard that sets out the requirements for protective clothing for motorcyclists. It divides clothing into several classes according to the level of protection provided. The designation EN 17092-2 (AA) means that a given motorcycle shirt meets the requirements of class "AA". This class represents a high level of protection designed for normal riding and touring, where it offers a compromise between safety and comfort. During certification, the garment undergoes a series of tests to verify key features in the event of an accident. In particular, the material is tested for puncture resistance, which simulates falling and sliding on the road. The strength of the seams is also tested to ensure that the shirt does not tear at the joints in an impact, as well as the resistance of the fabric itself to further tearing. The Class AA garment must also include certified joint protectors, specifically on the shoulders and elbows, and there is usually a preparation in the form of a pocket for the insertion of a back protector. A shirt with this certification is therefore not just a fashion accessory, but a fully-fledged protective element whose properties have been verified by independent tests.
