Counter-depth

'Counter-depth' refers to the design of a freestanding refrigerator, with a body depth of up to 60 cm, designed so that the front plane of the appliance is flush with the edge of the worktop and kitchen cabinet doors. The result is a cleaner, built-in look and less protrusion into the space. This is not a full built-in appliance as the doors and handles usually overhang slightly. Compared to the standard depth, counter-depth models usually have a smaller overall usable volume, but manufacturers often compensate with more width or height. This parameter is suitable for kitchens where the aesthetics of the cabinet line, clearance and ergonomics are emphasised, or where space in depth is limited. Most often, these are American refrigerators that are not manufactured as built-in appliances.
