Drain cleaning sticks are solid-form products that are inserted directly into the drain trap of a washbasin, sink, bathtub, or shower. After insertion, the stick slowly dissolves in the moist environment, which usually takes several weeks. During this process, it gradually releases concentrated active substances, most commonly special enzymes. These enzymes have the ability to break down organic impurities such as accumulated fats, food scraps and soap scum. The main purpose of these sticks is prevention, as they prevent the gradual buildup of deposits that could eventually lead to a complete blockage of the pipes. At the same time, they help eliminate unpleasant odors that arise from the decomposition of these deposits in the trap. They are not primarily intended for resolving an existing, acute blockage, but serve for long-term maintenance and keeping the drain flowing freely.
