The light therapy lamp with the "flicker-free" label emits light that is stable and constant to the human eye. Conventional light sources, such as some fluorescent lamps or lower quality LEDs, can actually flicker very quickly, although we are usually not consciously aware of this oscillation. However, the brain and eyes do respond to this phenomenon, known as the strobe effect. Prolonged exposure to such light can cause eyestrain, headaches or general discomfort in more sensitive individuals. In a light therapy lamp, the elimination of this flicker is essential because the user is exposed to the light intentionally and for a prolonged period of time. The stable light flux ensures that the therapy is comfortable and does not cause negative side effects, allowing the effects of the light to be utilised without undue strain on the eyes and nervous system.
