Object tracking is a function of the automatic focusing system, also known as autofocus. It allows the photographer to mark a specific moving person or object within the frame. The camera then continuously keeps this selected target in focus, even if it moves within the scene or if the photographer himself moves. The system works by "remembering" the visual characteristics of the object, such as shape or color, and actively shifting the focus point to keep the object sharp. This technology facilitates photographing dynamic scenes, such as sports, playing children, or animals in motion. More advanced versions of this feature can automatically recognize specific types of objects, such as human eyes, faces, or animals, and automatically focus on them.
