Hidden silicone

Acrylic silicone is a sealant which, despite its name "silicone", is based on an acrylic dispersion, i.e. a water-dilutable substance. It is mainly used in interiors to seal and fill joints and cracks that will be subsequently repainted with paint. Typically, these are joints between plasterboard panels, joints in wall and ceiling corners or gaps around window frames and door frames from the inside. Its main characteristic is its paintability. Once cured, it takes well to common interior paints, allowing for a uniform and aesthetic surface without visible joints. Compared to pure silicone, it has a lower elasticity, which means it is suitable for joints with little movement. It can crack under greater stress or settlement of the structure. Once dry, it is moisture resistant, but is not intended for areas with constant contact with water, such as shower enclosures or around the bath. It cures by evaporation of water, so it is susceptible to rain or washing before fully drying. It is easy to work with and tools and excess sealant can be cleaned with water before drying.
