HPL stands for Home Pulsed Light. It is a technology for long-term hair removal, operating on the principle of selective photothermolysis, which means the destruction of target tissue by heat generated from light. The device emits light pulses, whose energy is absorbed by the dark pigment melanin contained in the hair. The light energy is converted into heat, which damages the hair follicle, i.e., the root of the hair, and puts it into a resting phase. This prevents further hair growth. It is not permanent removal, but a significant and long-term reduction in growth, the maintenance of which requires repeating the treatment at certain intervals. HPL technology is adapted to be safe for home use.
