The MD bayonet is a specific type of connector used in trailer wiring to connect the rear combination lamps to the main wiring harness. The designation "bayonet" describes the connection mechanism itself, which consists of simply inserting and then rotating the connector to secure it firmly and reliably. The abbreviation MD specifies a particular standard, i.e. the exact shape of the connector and the arrangement of the internal contacts or pins. This ensures that the MD connector will only fit lights and prototypes designed for the same system. There are several pins inside the connector, each of which conducts an electrical signal for a different light function, such as brake, turn signal or marker light. The whole system thus allows you to connect all the functions of the lamp in one movement, without having to connect the individual wires separately.
