Partial tang

The tang is the part of the blade that extends into the handle of a knife, connecting them into a single unit. In knives with a "partial tang" construction, this metal tang does not extend through the entire length of the handle but ends within a part of it. This manufacturing method affects the weight distribution of the knife, which is usually lighter due to the smaller amount of metal in the handle. Compared to a "full tang" construction, where the metal extends through the entire handle, these knives may be less durable when prying or chopping hard materials, as the connection between the blade and handle is not as robust.
