PCTG filament

PCTG filament is a printing filament, a material used in 3D printing technology. The full name of the material is polycyclohexylene glycol and it belongs to the same family of plastics, the so-called copolyesters, as the better known PETG. The main characteristic of PCTG is its very high impact toughness. In practice, this means that prints made from this material are extremely resistant to impacts, drops and blows and will not simply crack. Unlike more fragile materials, they flex under load rather than shatter. Compared to PETG, it also offers higher heat resistance, so parts made from it retain their shape better even at higher temperatures. The material has good chemical resistance and can be transparent with high light transmission. Due to these properties, it is mainly used for printing functional and mechanically stressed parts such as various covers, brackets or components that have to withstand something. Some variants of this filament are certified for food contact, which allows it to be used for printing containers or kitchen utensils, but it is always necessary to check this information with the specific manufacturer. In terms of printing, it behaves similarly to PETG, requiring a heated print pad for good adhesion and to prevent model curling during cooling.
