A PEI pad is a special surface designed for the 3D printer's printing surface, on which the first layer of the printed object is placed. The abbreviation PEI stands for polyetherimide material, which is a polymer with properties suitable for 3D printing. Its main function is to ensure good adhesion of the molten filament to the substrate during printing when the surface is heated, while allowing the finished print to be easily removed once it has cooled. The attribute "smooth" specifies that the surface of this pad is completely flat and texture-free. As a result, the underside of the printed model will also have a smooth and often glassy-glossy appearance. The addition of 'with adhesive' means that the PEI film is coated on the underside with an adhesive layer, usually high temperature resistant, which serves to bond it firmly to the printing plate, usually a steel plate. Although the product is bonded to the filament, it is not a printing material, but an accessory that forms the interface between the printer and the filament itself and is crucial for the correct attachment of the first layer.
