rPETG is a printing filament designed for use in 3D printers. The letter "r" at the beginning of the name means "recycled". This material is made from processed PET plastic, which most often comes from sorted PET bottles or industrial waste. In terms of printing and mechanical properties, rPETG retains most of the positive characteristics of standard PETG. It is therefore strong, tough and relatively chemically resistant. When printed, it has good interlayer adhesion and low shrinkage, which limits curling and deformation of prints. The choice of rPETG thus represents a greener alternative, as no new primary raw materials are consumed in its production, but existing plastic material is used. It is used for printing functional prototypes, mechanical parts and everyday objects where higher strength and durability than, for example, PLA is required.
