The switching mechanism is part of the ratchet, which is the handle for the socket heads, often called "nuts". This mechanism is used to easily change the direction of rotation, i.e. to switch between tightening and loosening bolts or nuts. The change of direction is usually done by a small lever or a rotary wheel located on the ratchet head. Its main function is that you do not have to remove the tool from the bolt each time you turn it. When tightening, you move the handle in one direction to turn the screw, and when moving backwards, the mechanism rotates freely without moving the screw. This free movement is accompanied by a typical clicking sound. This makes it possible to work efficiently even in areas with limited space where it would be impossible to make a full turn with the wrench.
