Tertiary combustion

Tertiary combustion is the third stage of combustion in which an additional air stream is fed into the rear or upper part of the combustion chamber. This air promotes the afterburning of residual gases that were not burned in the previous stages. The result is maximum use of fuel energy, minimum emissions and high stove efficiency. Tertiary combustion is common in environmentally friendly stoves certified for low-emission operation.
