For a long time, I was deciding between Sapphire's RX 7900XTX (top performance) and this RTX 4080 from Gainward (at the tail end in terms of performance and VRM). Price of both similar (both exorbitant at the moment). Gross game performance plus or minus balanced. Architectures different. Given Geforce's support in programs like Blender, DaVinci Resolve due to CUDA cores, performance in RT, support in the form of DLSS "crutches" and FG in games, Team Green makes more sense. In games I have to appreciate the frame generation support - the increase in FPS is noticeable, image degradation in my subj. the impression is small. There is a noticeable decrease in card power consumption and this is generally an advantage of the 4080 over Radeon. The question is why it is necessary to enable these technologies at all (is it the developers' unwillingness to optimize their engines better? ) The PCB of this card is shorter than my previous Phoenix 3080 and the manufacturer made good use of the open backplate section for ventilation. By the way, the cooling of this model is quiet, there are three 95mm fans on the card. The biggest disappointment is the price, which hasn't changed much even after a year. It's really high like it was in the days of the cryptocurrency. However, if you're expecting discounts or want to skip this generation, I'm afraid Blackwell will be even more expensive. TSMC wafers on 5nm technology cost something and on 3nm they will definitely be even more expensive. Considering AMD's (so far) futile efforts to offer equivalent features like FG, dlss, rt and their weaker performance in content creator programs, geforce is the better choice at the moment. Who wants to wait, let him wait, who wants to play now, has to accept the price.
