Compared to the old Tomtom Runner 2, the shift is huge, but overall Garmin disappointed me quite a bit. What strikes me most is the inaccuracy of the accelerometer, which e.g. It provides unacceptably inaccurate skipping rope counting (~80/100, like sorry) while calmly counting your steps while your watch sits on the table overnight. I consider the display of mobile notifications when the watch is lying on the table to be a significant user and security problem. For me, displaying them should be conditional on unlocking, similar to the first payment after putting on the watch. The watch doesn't even allow you to respect the Do Not Disturb mode set on your phone, so your phone doesn't even beep, but the watch lights up and vibrates on your bedside table until you set Do Not Disturb on it. The menu layout and touch controls cannot be praised either. Touch is quite imprecise, it doesn't take advantage of the potential of different gestures (a top-down gesture does the same thing as a bottom-up gesture; a gesture from right to left does nothing). The fitness functions are probably just for fun - the watch informs me periodically during the day that I'm stressed, although this is not at all true. Then in the evening they tell me I've had a stressful day and I should do yoga before bed. But let me not just criticize. I'm happy with the battery life - I charge the watch about once every ten days, although it's still connected to my phone and I haven't set any power saving modes from the default. The mobile app also deserves praise for the amount of information and graphs it displays on activities. To summarize, the watch may make sense as an affordable outdoor sports tracker (I wouldn't rely on the accelerometer), but as a fitness band or smart watch, don't buy it.

They're better than the vivoactive 4 but look like they were printed with a 3d printer. Overpriced.

Overall, I really trust Garmin quality and believe this will be my best watch so far functionally, but I have a lot of concerns about usability. GUI is the worst from all watches I had so far, customizing it is a nightmare and every settings I need to change I have to Google, because I wouldn't find it myself. The menus are very fixed, and you can't completely reset them to what you want, can just choose in which order to display items of what designers thought is a good menu for a specific control. Can't shake off a feeling that someone is telling me how to use my device.
Long battery life
Flawless notifications synchronization with the phone
Easy setup and get started
The watch is very light-weight
Small watch size with an ability to tighten the belt to a very thin arm
In some sport modes you don't see time
Not intuitive UI on the watch with very little customisation options
No in-app settings search
Alarm is not fully customisable
Some settings you need to change in 2 places for them to kick in (metrics)
