max satisfaction, I knew what I was buying so I was prepared for any shortcomings
Google Pixel, direct from Google
I only buy these devices
no problems so far
7 years support ( although I don't think I'll have it that long )
super camera, stamina average
a few little things are always there, like the reader in the display, not totally great
sometimes it takes time for the system to react

On first impression a good phone, my piece unfortunately had a hardware failure, so it could not be relied on, he himself "clicked" where he wanted, when driving, my navigation closed, I could not answer the message because it was going back somewhere else, really horrible. It happens with other phones of other brands, so it's hard to evaluate this, anyway, I didn't have the impression that it's me who determines how things will look, e.g. I couldn't turn off AI "enhancement" for photos. I bought an iPhone for similar money and it's about something else, I was quite surprised how much better.
I got a defective piece with "ghost touches", the phone was unusable
The AI does things I don't want - it "enhances photos" so it doesn't look natural

Super camera
Good battery life
Long support
Compact
It gets pretty hot sometimes
In pure Android, some things are sometimes missing that are present in other vendors' environments - e.g. can't turn off the flashlight with the power button, can't remove the search bar from the default launcher, etc.

I recommend choosing between 8a or PRO. Version 8 is unnecessarily a track against 8a and does not bring much extra. The absence of VoLTE in 2024 is already sad, an update from Google would be enough, but it is not happening. For the price, it' s a shame.
Absence of VoLTE
Truncated camera options
The quality of the photos did not convince

relatively compact
The " hump" of the camera over the entire width, so you can comfortably shoot even on the phone lying on the table
very slippery surface
the search field cannot be removed from the default launcher

Phone bought primarily because of the praised camera, which is really very good. Overall the phone is really great, the negatives are just minor things. The only thing I miss after switching from the OnePlus Nord 2 is more customization of the system.
excellent main camera, 2x digital zoom is also decent
A solid wide-angle camera
fluidity and speed of the system without additional ballast
very decent speakers
quite compact size
lasts just fine for 2 days of normal use
wireless charging
due to pure android, some quite expected customizations are missing (e. g. always on, color shade of the display. )
the display in direct sunlight catches a purple tint (at a certain angle of the rays)
sometimes quite warm, even through the cover
charging is not the fastest
missing Pro mode in the photo application

Since I have been working with phones for more than 15 years and the last 8 years as a QA in mobile development, my perspective is a little different than that of a regular user. It' s not my first Pixel, I was switching from the Pixel 4a to the Pixel 8. The transition isn' t a big deal. After 4 years, the Pixel 4a still lasted up to 2 days of my usage on 1 charge. In many ways they are almost the same phones, the Pixel 8 is a bit bigger, heavier, but you won' t notice much of a difference in the packaging. In terms of hardware, the Pixel 8 is more powerful. But you won' t know it during normal operation. The transition was very smooth and simple, via a P2P connection. The content (78 GB) was transferred in about 10 minutes. Practically, the original phone was cloned with everything in the new one. All you had to do was move the SIM. To move WhatsApp history and conversations, both devices must be on the same Wi-Fi network. I recommend the home network, it does not need to be paired in the company network. The Fitbit switch did not go completely smoothly, I had to enter a restart on the bracelet in the menu to make everything work again and complete the notification settings for other apps. You need to log in to banking again and add the cards to Google wallets again, they need to be authorized again (question of a few minutes, scan, confirm and done) The difference can be seen in the endurance, the phone can once again last 2 days with a 25% battery reserve. The display is noticeably better in direct sunlight, otherwise it is not very noticeable. I do not use 120 Hz (Smooth display). Since the Pixel 4a has lasted me 4 years and is in very good condition after that long, I hope the Pixel 8 can do it again and my next phone will be the Pixel 12: D
compact dimensions (comparable to iPhone 13)
excellent readability of the display in direct sunlight
Excellent 5G support (verified on the Vodafone network)
supported BT formats - better quality of played music
pure android debugging
support and security (hopefully it will have support like iPhones, security is the same, maybe better)
camera function
the quality of the photos taken
GPS accuracy
battery life could be better

Android without frills
The beautiful display ensures readability even in bright sunlight
Speed fluency
Battery life for a day and a half without problems
The great compact can be controlled with one paw
Support from Google for 7 years is enough, but the question is whether the phone itself will have such a lifespan. time will tell
Slipping
So far nothing really

Personally, I would have liked the Pixel 8 to be a bit smaller in height
honest workmanship
nice display
The fingerprint reader and face scanning work great
pure Android
photos and tools in Google Photos to edit them
they write it everywhere, but I' ll say it again, it really slides a lot in dry hands, on paper, from the wallet. I will have to buy a cover
