During a multi-day HO marathon and nightly ITOs, I quickly appreciated how the Cloud III S Wireless keeps up even as a wireless. Once I switched to the 2.4GHz dongle, any latency issues disappeared and call quality was consistently clear. But Bluetooth is enough for listening to music without limiting the sound quality. The more significant drawback I see is with the slippage of the shells if you lean too much in the chair- tightening the head bridge will help, but with prolonged wear it will start to press and lead to headaches. Overall: BUY
Great switching between bluetooth and 2.4GHz dongle - when switching from PC to mobile device it's a matter of seconds and the whole process is very smooth.
Comfort and light weight - compared to Cloud Alpha Red, the headphones are lighter on the head, have more ear space and feel less "tight", which you will appreciate especially when wearing them for longer periods of time.
Decent design - no aggressive RGB, the red light on the microphone when muted is subtle and does not disturb even in the evening.
The narrated voice (English, female) is pleasant.
Battery life - still 80% battery life after about 30 hours of use, which indicates great optimization.
Sound Quality - There is no discernible difference in sound quality between Cloud Alpha Red and Cloud III S Wireless, which is a compliment to the wireless design.
~30 hours and 80% battery life
Bluetooth on the HyperX Cloud III S Wireless works great for pure stereo output, but when the microphone is activated it automatically switches from A2DP to the economical Hands-Free Profile (HFP/HSP), which only supports mono input and output and limits the sampling rate to 8-16 kHz. The result is significantly worse voice quality, higher latency and frequent dropouts if you stay at a greater distance (~3 meters) from the source.
Some more expensive headphones implement aptX Voice or LC3, but Cloud III S Wireless does not support these encodings.
The microphone range in bluetooth mode is poor - you only need to be 2 meters away from the device and the other party can hardly hear you and does not understand you (teams, discord)
Too loose a fit - comfort is a plus, but they can easily slip off when you bend down if you don't hold them.
Lack of ANC (Active Noise Cancellation) - not a problem for home gaming, but if the headphones had ANC they would be ideal for travelling around town or the office.
The microphone is not intended for professional recording - rather it is sufficient for casual calls or playing (separate desktop microphone for such demanding)
