I switched to the Oral-B iO 5 DUO after several years of using the Philips Sonicare DiamondClean, so I have the opportunity to compare both systems directly. The biggest positive surprise for me is the actual cleaning result. Subjectively, I have a significantly better feeling of clean teeth with the Oral-B than with the previous Sonicare. I also really appreciate the visual pressure control, which helps to properly regulate the pressure on the teeth and gums. Initially, though, you have to get used to the light signals, as the toothbrush sometimes flashes almost like a mini disco. :-) What disappointed me, on the other hand, is the accessories. If you buy a DUO set, you logically expect it to be used by two people. That makes it even harder to understand why the manufacturer included only one travel case and one charger. My partner and I usually travel together, so we really miss having a second case and have to source it separately. Similarly, I would appreciate the option to charge both toothbrushes at the same time, or to have a charger each. For a product designed for two, this feels like unnecessary corner-cutting. Another difference compared to the Sonicare is the larger brush heads, which feel noticeably bulkier in the mouth. It's not a major issue, but the transition takes some getting used to. The connection with the mobile app is also a disappointment. The first pairing went smoothly, but when trying again, I couldn't get the toothbrush to connect. Overall, however, I rate the switch from Sonicare to Oral-B positively. The most important thing for me is the cleaning quality, and in this respect, I definitely have a better feeling about the Oral-B iO 5. It's just a shame about a few details, especially the insufficient accessories for two users, which unnecessarily let down an otherwise very good product.
