We were buying for hard floors. It vacuums them very well. We don't have carpets, so I can't judge how it vacuums them.
The tubes are made of too soft plastic for my taste. But it's a good buy for the money.

price
I had no idea I was supposed to keep track of suction power with regular small vacuums. As I looked, 50% of the vacuum cleaners are not listed anyway.
I only have floating floors at home. After turning the vacuum on to stage 1, it stuck to the floor and I didn't pull it off. My 21 year old son tried it too, and it turned out the same way.
I can't imagine what would happen if I had carpets. I had to and I did return the vacuum cleaner.
But otherwise I can't stand Alza.
