Music CD Songs about love and killing on the album Na nože. There are two of them and they' ve done quite a bit. The fragile original songs that DKP and Marie Kieslowski write so convincingly have the power of the undercurrent on the weir.
LP Record What happened to The Avalanches? It's a question some people have surely asked themselves in the 16 years that have passed since the release of their debut album "Since I Left You" in 2000. Since then, rumours have repeatedly surfaced that a second studio album would follow the cult classic. Now, half an eternity later, the time has come: "Wildflower" is being released on XL. This is quite possibly the most eagerly awaited second album in music history. Conceived by Robbie Chater and Tony Di Blasi, "Wildflower" is a wild rollercoaster ride through breakneck, sample-laden loops that will make your head spin with their convulsive sounds.
LP Record With their 2023 album "Not Without My Ghosts", the band returns to its roots, releasing what is possibly their strongest work to date. The album features guest appearances from Louie Knuxx, Phem, Landon Tewers (The Plot In You) and Andrew Neufeld (Comeback Kid).
LP Record MUNA is magical. What other band could possibly brand the desolate year of 2021 with sequins and pom-poms, making you sing (and perhaps even believe) "Life's so fun, life's so fun" during possibly the most difficult period of your life? "Silk Chiffon", MUNA's instant cult classic featuring their new label boss Phoebe Bridgers, broke through the grey skies of a year-and-a-half-long pandemic like a double rainbow.
Blu-ray Film - DTS-X. Hasbro, that brought you Transformers, presents the spectacular action adventure Battleship, that takes place on the seas, in the sky and on land, where mankind is in a struggle for survival with alien forces. Directed by Peter Berg (Hancock) and starring Taylor Kitsch, Alexander Skarsgård, Rihanna and Liam Neeson, the film offers breathtaking action scenes and the most amazing special effects you've ever seen.
LP Record - Along with the first two Arctic Monkeys albums, the 2013 classic is now available again in a mini gatefold sleeve. It features guest appearances from Josh Homme, Pete Thomas, and Bill Ryder-Jones, as well as the hit singles "Do I Wanna Know?", "R U Mine?", and "Why'd You Only Call Me When You're High?". Arctic Monkeys are releasing a seriously fresh album at the beginning of September, possibly the best in the band's history! It features guest appearances from Josh Homme (QOTSA), Pete Thomas (Elvis Costello), and Bill Ryder-Jones! AM – the band's initials mean much more: the start of a new day, an analogue radio frequency, and an existential statement (being). The title "AM" for the fifth Arctic Monkeys album suggests exactly that, and much more.
LP Record In 1977, Television released their debut album "Marquee Moon". Although it sold fewer than 80,000 copies in the US and barely broke the top thirty in the UK, it is widely regarded as one of the seminal albums of the punk era. F. Schöler's review in Stereo 3/88: "The oft-imitated masterpiece of the American new wave of rock, finally in a fitting transfer." "'Marquee Moon' is a solid collection of angst-ridden songs, but the searching guitar work and the sharp, unsettling tone make it indelible. The title track is a true tour de force: 'Marquee Moon' forges a spiritual connection between Allman Brothers-style virtuosity and Velvet Underground introspection. There is nothing else quite like it in rock."
LP Record Few bands have revitalised French pop over the last decade quite like La Femme, and they're arriving in 2021 to make all our lives better. Paradigmes, their highly anticipated third album, offers a shift in perception – a kaleidoscopic whirlwind into another, more vibrant dimension. Following Psycho Tropical Berlin (2013) and Mystère (2016), both of which achieved gold status in France and led to hundreds of concerts worldwide, the band from Paris and Biarritz continues to astound with this new album. On it, you'll hear everything from coldwave to yé-yé, from Kraftwerk to The Velvet Underground, all distilled, sequenced, and psychedelically tweaked to sound unmistakably like La Femme.
LP Record With this album, Oldfield followed up his brilliant debut, "Tubular Bells", which has long since made its mark on music history since its release on 25.5.1973. Listening to the new album, the parallels and differences with the original "Tubular Bells" are immediately clear. The structure of the music is partly identical. The "Master of Ceremonies", the "Monster Roar", and the "Western Saloon" at the end are all present once again. The compositions more or less correspond to the 'spirit' of the original in tempo and timbre, but the melodies are completely new. As a result, "Tubular Bells II" feels very familiar on one hand, yet quite different on the other. Any concern that Mike Oldfield had simply created a plagiarism of his own work is impressively dispelled.
LP Record In spring this year, Maite Kelly released the first album of her solo career, titled "Hello!", and the pop anthem "Einfach Hello" from this album is currently the most successful pop single of the year. But Maite Kelly wouldn't be Maite Kelly if she rested on her laurels. Quite the opposite – Maite's creativity has no stop button. So this summer, she composed another five songs, which will now shorten the wait for her tour in early 2022 on a special bonus edition.
LP Record The improvements on her very good debut album "Sing Sing Death House" chronicle her struggle for self-realisation and are much more than just punk screams; they are particularly piercing when her throaty growl is fully unleashed. The track "Seneca Falls", a tribute to the women's suffrage movement backed by gravelly guitars and a thundering bassline, features an exceptional, goosebump-inducing, though unintelligible, chorus that soars above the music thanks to the emotional quality of Brody's roar. Otherwise, the music from this band of lip-pierced gutter punks is quite thrilling.
LP Record - It also came to pass: Pretty Hate Machine was released on 20th October 1989 – and later became one of the first independent albums to go platinum. It was born at a time when 'Like a Prayer' and 'Eternal Flame' were the year's biggest hits. And although Reznor can't quite stand by this album today, it was the initial spark for a mainstream revolution. Suddenly, the charts featured music that dealt with teenage angst, depression, doubts about God and sexual energy. It was completely unheard of, and had an exceptionally unsettling sound.
LP Record The official birth of Einstürzende Neubauten is considered to be their concert on 1 April 1980 at the legendary Berlin club, Moon. And the anniversary celebration, held 30 years later at the Berlin club Tresor in 2010, showed that Einstürzende Neubauten are still going strong even after three decades of intense musical ecstasy. Ten years earlier, in 2000, they released the album "Silence Is Sexy", which almost entirely abandoned atonal noise attacks. Instead—and not just on the opener "Sabrina"—the tracks are dominated by quite conventional song structures and melodies that make do with just a few catchy sounds.
LP Record - For the album "Koi No Yokan", Deftones once again teamed up with their trusted producer Nick Raskulinecz (Alice In Chains, Foo Fighters, Rush) in his Los Angeles studio. Raskulinecz was also responsible for the bombastic, widescreen sound of their previous album, 2010's "Diamond Eyes". Moreno recently explained to Entertainment Weekly what characterises the typical Deftones sound for him: "Everyone knows we have an aggressive sound. It's not the heaviest, but it's often quite aggressive. On the other hand, there's a strange, mischievously beautiful atmosphere in the songs – that's exactly what I love about this band. For me, it's the epitome of what Deftones means!" Chino Moreno told Billboard about the new album "Koi No Yokan".
