HP+ mandatory

For printers with mandatory HP+ activation, you must activate HP+ during the initial printer setup. Without this activation, the printer cannot be fully commissioned. By activating, the user accepts the terms of service, which include, but are not limited to, the need for a permanent internet connection, the use of genuine HP ink and limited compatibility with non-genuine cartridges. The advantage is access to cloud features, secure printing and an extended warranty, but the disadvantage is less freedom in the choice of consumables.
