Noise Reduction

High noise level affects the detail resolution, edge sharpness and contrast, thereby reducing the resulting image quality. Noise reduction is one of the methods for obtaining quality for images free of unwanted grain.

Noise Reduction in cameras

Many digital cameras offer a noise reduction function, which most often operates on the principle of:

  • Comparison of the values of neighboring image information sensing points on the chip
  • Double exposure with the shutter open and closed

Noise reduction using software

Unwanted noise can be partially removed in special software programs designed for photo editing.
