RIP

RIP (Routing Information Protocol) is a dynamic routing protocol that is used to determine the path that data packets travel on a network. RIP uses the number of hops as a metric to select the shortest path. This protocol is easy to configure and suitable for smaller networks where the topology is relatively stable. However, RIP has a limitation in network scope as it supports a maximum of 15 hops.
