Vertical GPU Mount

A vertical graphics card bracket, also referred to as a “Vertical GPU mount,” is an accessory or design feature of a computer case that allows for the installation of a graphics card in a non-traditional, vertical position. By default, a graphics card is inserted horizontally directly into the slot on the motherboard, with its fans facing downwards. With a vertical mount, the card is rotated 90 degrees, so its design and fans are visible through the transparent side panel of the case. The main reason for this solution is aesthetics, as modern graphics cards often have elaborate cooler designs that are not visible during standard mounting. For such a setup, a special extension cable called a “PCIe riser” is essential, which connects the graphics card to the slot on the motherboard. The quality and version of this cable are important for maintaining the card's full performance. During vertical mounting, it is necessary to consider sufficient space between the card's fans and the side panel, as an excessively small gap can restrict airflow and degrade cooling. Some cases have vertical positions ready from the factory, while for others, it is necessary to purchase a mounting kit.
