Studio Flash Equipment

The kit contains two light sources (a lamp and a pilot lamp). The pilot lamp light output can be adjusted to match the flash, i.e. it is a secondary light source. The main illumination is supplied by the flash after pressing the camera shutter.

Flash devices combine the illumination advantages of continuous lighting with those of strobe lights, which produce considerably stronger light output and intensity. Flash equipment also features adjustable positioning and a wide range of accessories that further enhance the final lighting quality.

Lighting modifiers

  • Reflector - is designed to direct the light at the photographed subject; its shape strongly influences lighting harshness and contrast (the larger the reflector, the softer the light).
  • Barndoors - putting on the barndoors reduces the area illuminated by the reflector and lets you easily control the light direction. The barndoors shadow the parts that the photographer wants to keep darker.
  • Snoot - provides very harsh light that you can customise using colour filters as needed. It is used for portraits and product photography, where you need targeted illumination.
  • Beauty dish - a large and wide reflector that radiates soft light in one direction, which is ideal for portrait photography.
  • Honeycomb grid - a metal grid that serves to better focus the light emitted from the reflector. Honeycomb grids vary in size and cell depth (deeper cells mean better focus).
