If you care mainly about the style and don’t need extensive sports-related features that cost a hefty extra sum, pay attention to the following criteria.

  • Platform - - smart watches are compatible either with OS Android, iOS or Windows Phone. Some models are designed to be compatible with multiple platforms.
  • Price - after choosing a platform, consider the maximum amount you're willing to invest. You may want to pay extra for a premium model with a reinforced display, resistant against scratches and mechanical damage. These are commonly marked as Gorilla Glass or Sapphire Glass.
  • Appearance - purely subjective. Just choose a watch that looks good to you. After all, you are buying a device that serves largely as a fashion accessory.
  • Features and functions - everybody’s needs are different; please see the list above for some examples of common smart watch features.
  • Battery life - some people need a battery life of up to 30 days and are okay with having only basic smart functions and a monochrome display, others require all the features you can imagine, even if it means worse battery life. Most smart watches last about two days on average, assuming they are used in a regular fashion.
