USB Connectors
USB (Universal Serial Bus) - a universal data bus that serves to connect a data storage solution, peripheral, or printer to a device. Its purpose was to replace old and obsolete connection formats, such as the serial and parallel port. The vast majority of modern electronic devices use USB connectors and there are several different versions of them:
USB 1.1 is an old version of the USB connector; you are unlikely to find a USB 1.1 device nowadays.
USB 2.0 is an improved version of USB 1.0 with higher transfer speeds; it is being gradually replaced by the new USB 3.2 Gen 1 and Gen 2 interface. Only found on older devices these days.
USB 3.2 Gen 1 and Gen 2 (formerly USB 3.1 Gen 1 and Gen 2) are ubiquitous in modern electronics and their high transfer rates make them ideal for connecting high-capacity data storage devices.
USB-C is a new version of the USB connector that combines the benefits of the micro-USB and Lightning cable. It is also reversible and, in addition to data transfer, also provides charging.
