Surprise: Beyoncé returns in 2016 with a new album. And although no single or promotional campaign was released beforehand, and there was almost no hint of "Lemonade"'s release, it's highly likely to be the biggest pop album of the year – at least if you believe the media. They've already praised "Lemonade" to the heavens.
The reasons are clear. Firstly, Beyoncé's sixth solo album is another so-called visual album. The singer has created a roughly hour-long film to accompany the twelve songs. The video, in which Beyoncé demolishes an entire street with a baseball bat, among other things, features various poetic verses, such as those from Somali poet Warsan Shire. The film was directed by Mark Romanek and Jonas Åkerlund.
