The Cult: The Cult LTD
LP Record The Cult is fronted by Ian Astbury (vocals) and Billy Duffy (guitar). Their music and albums need little introduction, as they have established themselves as one of the greatest rock bands since their formation in 1983. In 1994, they released their sixth, self-titled album, The Cult, which is also known as the "Black Sheep" album due to its cover art. It was recorded with Sonic Temple producer Bob Rock and is a very personal album, with many of its narrative themes relating to Astbury's younger years. Unlike their previous albums, this one was a slower burn, opening up more with each listen. The album is considered an overlooked and underrated gem and preceded the band's split in 1995.
