Listeners can dance to her music, relax, laugh with her, cry with her, and everything in between, because she has the gift of being able to vocally set any mood. LP Record Bob Dylan's new triple album Less than a year after his "Fallen Angels" album, the tireless Bob Dylan presents his next studio album in 2017. "Triplicate" is his 38th record and the name says it all, as the album contains a total of three CDs or LPs, each with its own title: "'Til The Sun Goes Down", "Devil Dolls", and "Comin' Home Late". "Triplicate" features a total of 30 songs, which are not new Dylan originals, but a personal selection of songs by American songwriting icons such as Charles Strouse and Lee Adams, Harold Arlen and Ted Koehler, Harold Hupfield, and Cy Coleman and Carolyn Leigh. To record "Triplicate", Bob Dylan assembled his live band at Capitol Studios in Hollywood.
LP Record In 1974, Herbie Hancock was propelled into the spotlight by the success of his single "Chameleon". The band, featuring Mike Clark on drums, embarked on extensive tours across the United States, performing at festivals and large concert halls for ever-growing and more diverse audiences. The quintet quickly solidified into a tight unit with astonishing grooves devised by Paul Jackson and Mike Clark, who had played together in Oakland and the Bay Area before joining Hancock. With this line-up, the band took off at warp speed, as evidenced by Robert Springett's cosmic artwork on the cover of the album Thrust, recorded in San Francisco in the summer of 1974.
LP Record In 1962, Bill Evans headed to the Riverside Records studio to make the first recordings with his newly formed trio. This was a major challenge for the pianist. He could still rely on drummer Paul Motian, who had been playing with him since 1959. However, the tragic death of bassist Scott LaFaro in a car accident on 6th July 1961 left a painful void in the trio. This was filled by Chuck Israels, who had previously played in George Russell's sextet and briefly in Eric Dolphy's band. The "Moon Beams" recordings reveal just how deeply Evans was shaken by LaFaro's death. It was Evans's first purely ballad album, and the musical mood reflected the pianist's sombre and melancholic state of mind.
LP Record One of the most famous recording dates in modern jazz history, the chemistry between Adderley, Miles Davis, Hank Jones, Sam Jones, and Art Blakey is incredible. Their radical reinventions of "Autumn Leaves" and "Love for Sale" are masterpieces. The title track by Miles and "One for Daddy-O" by Nat Adderley are classics. Features additional photos by FRANCIS WOLFF and 1 bonus track.
LP Record Conventional wisdom, which in this case might be correct, holds that Bill Evans's career peaked on 25 June 1961, when two live recordings were made: 'Sunday at the Village Vanguard' and 'Waltz for Debby'. These were the final two documents of Evans's first and finest trio, featuring bassist Scott LaFaro and drummer Paul Motian. In his two years with Evans, LaFaro opened up new possibilities for the jazz bass, playing in a harmonically idiosyncratic, melodically fluid style that was unparalleled at the time. He died ten days after this record was made, at the age of just 25.
LP Record Astral Weeks is an album by Northern Irish singer-songwriter Van Morrison, released by Warner Bros. Records in November 1968. It is considered one of the greatest albums of all time. Recorded in a single session, Astral Weeks is an impressionistic, jazz and folk-influenced record that Morrison described as "a personal statement, a spiritual autobiography". The album was not a commercial success upon its release, but has since been critically acclaimed as one of the best albums ever made. In 2003, it was ranked number 16 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.
