Buena Vista Social Club: Buena Vista Social Club, 180g (45 RPM)
LP Record Released in 1997, the album Buena Vista Social Club captures the spirit of traditional Cuban music. The album was recorded in Havana and features some of the country's most famous musicians, including Ibrahim Ferrer, Rubén González and Omara Portuondo. Ry Cooder, who had been fascinated by Cuban music for many years, produced the album. Buena Vista Social Club was both a critical and commercial success, and helped to introduce traditional Cuban music to a wider audience. The album is credited as a major influence in the revival of interest in traditional Cuban music in the late 1990s and early 2000s.
Jacques Brel: The Best Of CLR
LP Record Brel either wrote or co-wrote all the songs on this compilation between the mid-1950s and mid-1960s. As it is a true mix of hits and rare obscurities, this compilation is probably a very good starting point for discovering Brel's work. A few songs here (Les Bourgeois and Les Singes) seemingly tackle the class system, but in retrospect, they are probably just as much about the generation gap. Others are simple love songs or anthems to nature and the beauty of Belgium. Brel's songs are regularly covered by artists as diverse as Frank Sinatra, Ray Charles, David Bowie, Barbra Streisand, Neil Diamond, and Marlene Dietrich, to name but a few.
Various: Street Punk Rock (The Second Wave Of UK Punk Rock) Ltd Clr
LP Record Street punk – as a genre – was the second generation of punk rock in the UK, reigning supreme between approximately 1980 and 1985 under the slogan "Punk's Not Dead". For many, street punk is the practical realisation of the principles that were merely ideals in the first generation of punk. Street punk is aggressive, street-oriented, and militant, and its artists typically recorded exclusively for independent labels. This sets them apart from the Sex Pistols, The Clash, Generation X, or The Stranglers, whose albums were released on major labels.
Jeff Wayne: Jeff Wayne's Musical Version Of The War Of The Worlds
LP Record Jeff Wayne's "Musical Version of The War of the Worlds" is a concept album based on the H.G. Wells novel of the same name. Released in 1978, the album features narration by Richard Burton, music by Jeff Wayne, and vocals from Justin Hayward, Phil Lynott and Julie Covington. The album was a commercial success, reaching number one in the UK and selling over six million copies worldwide.
Delaney & Bonnie & Friends: On Tour LTD
LP Record Delaney Bramlett (g, voc); Bonnie Bramlett, Rita Coolidge (voc); Eric Clapton, Dave Mason (g); Bobby Keys (sax); Jim Price (tb); B. Whitlock (org, voc); Carl Radle (b); Tex Johnson (bgo, cga); Jim Gordon (dr) Recorded in late 1969 in Croydon, England, this 42-minute live album earned five stars from Rolling Stone magazine. It's not only the culmination of Delaney & Bonnie's work but also a pivotal moment in the subsequent careers of Eric Clapton and George Harrison. On this tour, Clapton played the same blend of country, blues, and gospel that would define his early solo performances from 1970 onwards.
Six Feet Under: Double Dead (Redux) Ltd Clr
LP Record Heavy grooves, sinful riffs, searing solos and, of course, the unmistakable, animalistic voice of the dreadlocked frontman guarantee a first-class headbanging experience. In the summer of 2002, Six Feet Under undertook an extensive US tour with support bands Skinless and Sworn Enemy. Their performance on 14 June was recorded for a DVD and live album.
Led Zeppelin: Presence Dlx Num Ltd
LP Record The album "Presence" was recorded during 18 days of turbulent studio sessions at Musicland Studios in Munich. This triple-platinum album – which hit number one on the charts in the USA and the UK – is packed with high-energy classics like "Nobody's Fault But Mine" and "Achilles Last Stand", showcasing Led Zeppelin at the peak of their creative powers. In fact, a stadium tour across the USA was planned for Led Zeppelin. However, that summer, Robert Plant and his wife were involved in a serious car accident in Rhodes. The tour was cancelled due to Robert Plant's broken ankle. The decision was made to start recording their seventh album at very short notice. Robert Plant spent most of his time in the studio in a wheelchair.
