LP Record "The Concert in Central Park" is the first live album by SIMON & GARFUNKEL, originally released in February 1982. It was recorded at a free benefit concert in September 1981, where they performed for over 500,000 people. The proceeds went towards the maintenance of Central Park. The concert and album marked the start of a brief reunion for PAUL SIMON and ART GARFUNKEL. Besides hits from their time as a duo, their Central Park performance also included songs from their solo careers and some covers. They played 21 songs in total, two of which did not make it onto the live album. Classics such as "The Sound Of Silence", "Mrs. Robinson", and "The Boxer" were included. The album and a film were released the following year.
LP Record Fungus Amongus is the debut album from California's Incubus and (from the band's historical perspective) a rough, unpolished diamond that provokes and polarises with its aggressive sound. The wild mix of their second album, S.C.I.E.N.C.E., was crafted into an exciting melange under the studio guidance of producer Jim Wirt, presenting itself as "alternative" in the truest sense of the word. Incubus comes across as fresh and powerful – iron-hard riffs and venomous lyrics are their forte. Their third CD, Make Yourself (1999), sold over two million copies in the States, remained on the LP charts for a solid two years, and was certified double platinum – even though it never climbed higher than number 47 on the charts.
LP Record Mariah Carey's highly anticipated third studio album, Music Box, released on 31 August 1993 via Columbia Records, built on the extraordinary musical and commercial success of her debut (Mariah Carey, 1990) and its successor (Emotions, 1991). It delivered a masterpiece full of hits, cementing the singer-songwriter's international status as an iconic pop-culture superstar and musical visionary. Music Box is the first of Mariah's albums to be certified Diamond by the RIAA and brings fans unmistakable Carey classics like "Dreamlover", "Hero", "Without You" and many more.
LP Record The music of Booker T & The M.G.'s is familiar to anyone with even a slight interest in music, as their songs are often sampled by famous artists. The foundation of their successful career was laid back in 1962 with the hit "Green Onions". Booker T. & The M.G.'s were the backing band for the soul duo Sam & Dave, and it was their hits that comedians Dan Aykroyd and John Belushi covered years later, introducing them to a white audience in the film The Blues Brothers. Green Onions is the debut album by Booker T. & the M.G.'s, released in October 1962 on Stax Records. In the month of its release, it reached number 33 on the pop albums chart.
LP Record Does he still need an introduction? Adriano Celentano, the Italian heartthrob? The singer, the actor, the most famous Italian of all? Probably not. We’ll just say this: here are his golden hits from the early days of his career, on 3 CDs!
LP Record For almost three decades, the American-French-Canadian melodic death metal syndicate Kataklysm has been delivering an uncompromisingly heavy sound across the globe. Their new album, "Goliath", stays true to its name – it is aggressive and brutal. It contains a lot of anger, but also a lot of darkness, which according to the band reflects the current mood in the world and delves deep into questioning the things that are happening on a global level and in society. Few bands have reached the point Kataklysm are at today in their long and demanding careers, but what truly sets them apart from the crowd is their honest view of the world and the creation of a perfect musical landscape to describe it.
LP Record Organic crossover: The Icelander expands his sonic universe. From supporting Sigur Rós to a worldwide career in just two years. Not bad for a musician whose music is as delicate and minimalist as Ólafur Arnalds's. On his second studio album, Ólafur Arnalds continues his mission to draw the indie generation of pop and rock fans into the world of seductive electronic chamber music and classical arrangements. For '...And They Have Escaped The Weight Of Darkness', Arnalds brought in Bardi Jóhannsson (Bang Gang) as co-producer. As a result, the work sounds more like an organic crossover than ever before.
LP Record The Smiths: The World Won't Listen is an album released in 1987. The album is a compilation of singles and B-sides from the band's first two albums. It was released after the band split up and was not well received by critics.
LP Record Gregory Porter's Christmas album has been a long time coming, but with "Christmas Wish", the wait is finally over. Classic tracks like "Silent Night" create a festive atmosphere, while his own compositions, such as the album's title track, add a soulful shine to the holiday season. A duet with jazz singing star Samara Joy brings a touch of glittering romance. Vocally, Porter is at the peak of his career here, delivering the most beautiful, emotional goosebumps.
