I tested various genres on the iBasso DX 50 player. The headphones are well-made, don’t press against your ears, have a warm sound and don’t produce any rumbling. They won’t sound perfect the first time you listen to them; they need to be ‘broken in’ first. to really get into it, which means at least a week’s listening; some people say as much as 100 hours of listening. But that applies to all headphones, especially the higher-quality ones.

a cable without a microphone effect (you can listen whilst walking)
The sense of space is very good
The bass is boosted, making it less clear than on Etymotic Research or Meze 105 Aer headphones
The vocals are crystal clear (Anna K, Peha, Roxette, Lordi, Within Temptation, . )
sound detail, separation of individual instruments – good (slightly worse than the much higher-quality Meze 105 Aer)
Overall, the sound is warm and pleasant to listen to; the instruments are distinguishable, but not so much that the track breaks down into individual parts
I wear them over my glasses; they don’t press against my ears, even on a three-hour train journey

some people might find the boosted bass annoying; I’ve set the equaliser on my player to ‘classical’, which works well for me with everything from classical music, through folk and pop, right up to rock and metal – though that’s very subjective
