The lack of other reviews and my own experience of using this hands-free kit are what ultimately led me to write this review. Just for a laugh, I tell everyone that this hands-free kit has improved my quality of life. Although I have several pairs of headphones, this ‘headphone’ managed to meet 75 per cent of my needs. I use it both for phone calls and, now, for listening to podcasts and audiobooks. I was originally looking for a hands-free kit for making phone calls (ideally for one ear) with the microphone positioned closer than in-ear earbuds – I often make calls whilst typing on my PC – or whilst carrying out lots of other (automatic) tasks. At the same time, I didn’t want to look like a call centre agent – partly because I’d be moving around outside the office with my headset on. The price of the Poly Legend 50 gave me a bit of a shock at first glance, and without any prior references or experience (apart from a few EN reviews), I ‘took a chance’ on it; even with the benefit of hindsight, I have no regrets and feel it offers really good value for money. Apart from the pros and cons listed in bullet points, I would highlight the following: - Wearing an earpiece in just one ear is, after all, less ‘disorientating’ for me, and I feel as though I’m not wearing one at all (whether I’m just going about my day in town, at the office or out in the countryside) – having the other ear free is simply better for me in this respect than dual earpieces; - decent ANC – I can stand next to the grinder on the automatic coffee machine (the most common movement in the office is from the desk to the coffee machine) and yet the person on the other end of the line hears either nothing at all or just a faint hum. Similarly, more distant voices are not part of the conversation at all. - the sound is clear and distinct – in fact, that’s one of the reasons I use headphones to listen to any spoken word - nothing can be heard ‘outwards’ from the headphones – i.e. you don’t disturb the silence with noise or the like. What I’d like to see done a bit differently: - longer battery life (depending on how often they’re used) - a more secure fit during physical activity – I feel as though the earpiece might fall out (it’s happened about twice) – this is down to the design (and is probably why it’s comfortable to wear). It’s certainly not a headphone for everyone, but for me it exceeded my expectations.
light
ease of use and pairing
sound clarity
battery life
doesn’t tire the ear, even when worn all day
a feeling that the earphones aren’t quite as secure on the ear (the price you pay for them not being a nuisance whilst you’re wearing them) – a problem during sporting activities
