I bought it for my M.2 PCIe 4.0 drive - the temperatures are lower by more than 10° which surprised me pleasantly. As for the instructions, they are missing, but it took me a few minutes to assemble, so it's not a big deal: The cooling pads are glued to the heatsink at the marked place and into the plate, the ssd disk is inserted and screwed in. The basic cooler for M.2 SSDs from a rather unknown manufacturer is sufficient to increase thermal inertia and delay the time when thermal throttling occurs. Compared to the competition from the same price level (bought 149, - CZK) from Axagon it has a robust mounting, not rubber bands with questionable durability. The package includes 2x thin pad and even 6x screws, although 4 are enough for mounting. As a replacement for the coolers to the boards will probably depend on the situation, somewhere where there will be at least minimal airflow even a few ribs can help a bit. Deployed on a Kingston KC3000 2TB heater, under heavy load the drive still got to its 73 degrees where it started to slow down, however the time to reach critical temperature increased to triple compared to the state without a heatsink (may depend on the airflow in your case).
