I ordered the fridge with the delivery-to-flat service. I was assured over the phone by an Alza employee that despite its 155kg weight, carrying the fridge up to the second floor of a block of flats wouldn't be a problem. Two workers were sent, who carried the fridge to the ground floor and then gave up on taking it any higher. I can't say I blame them. So they at least put the fridge in my garage. It's worth noting that even though they tried to be careful, they significantly damaged the packaging material while attempting to carry it up. Afterwards, Alza was contacted and a new date for carrying the fridge up was arranged. On the second attempt, some more well-built individuals arrived, who managed to carry the fridge up on the brink of their own strength. After unpacking the fridge, I discovered it was damaged on the side of the freezer door in two places. I sorted this out with Alza through financial compensation. I'll live with the damage (I'm not that fussy), because I didn't want to go through the ordeal of carrying this fridge out and having a new one delivered again, as it could have ended up the same way. A big thumbs up to ALZA for how they handled the problem. A final piece of advice: don't buy this fridge unless you live in a detached house with the kitchen on the ground floor, or in a block of flats with a lift, because if you live somewhere like I do, there's a high risk of damage during handling. The first delivery guys told me that other American-style fridges are usually a bit lighter and have better packaging material that's easier to grip when moving. Another option is to find professionals who specialise in moving heavy loads! In conclusion, I highly recommend the fridge, but with a big IF, and that relates to where you want the fridge delivered.
Gorgeous fridge design (subjective)
No need to connect it to the water mains, the water tank for the ice maker and for chilled water is located inside the fridge and has a capacity of 4.5 litres. The tank is easy to remove from the fridge.
For children and visitors, the 'view inside the fridge through the glass' feature has a real wow factor. However, it's also practical – you don't have to keep opening the fridge like an idiot only to find there's nothing in it anyway.
The fridge runs very quietly, which was one of the main reasons I bought it. The only time it's noisy is, for obvious reasons, when it's making ice cubes. Given that we bought the fridge during a heatwave, it couldn't keep up with our demand for ice at the start. So, every now and then, there's a loud noise when it makes new ice cubes for the dispenser. However, once the dispenser is full, this noise will stop. You can also turn off the ice-making function.
Plenty of space in both the fridge and the freezer, which is unsurprising for this type of fridge. Be aware that the freezer is narrower compared to a classic fridge-freezer, but that's not a problem for us, so I don't see it as a negative.
